TO ALL 10TH GRADE CLASSES

NEXT WEEK IS HISTORY WEEK. WE WILL BE DISCUSSING THE IDEA OF A NEW LAW THAT YOU, THE STUDENTS WILL PRESENT TO THE CLASS IN THE FORM OF ROBERT'S RULES OF ORDER. THESE RULES WERE PROVODED TO YOU AND SHOULD BE IN YOUR BINDER.

YOUR RESPONSIBILTY FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT, WORTH 20 POINTS, IS TO INVESTIGATE IN YOUR GROUP, OR IN THE CASE OF ONE CLASS, FORM A GROUP OF 3-4 PEOPLE, A NEW IDEA FOR A BILL THAT YOU WISH TO BECOME LAW. YOU MUST PRESENT IN 3-4 MINUTES WHO WANTS THIS NEW LAW (OR IMPROVE OR CHANGE AN EXISTING LAW) WHAT IS IS ALL ABOUT, WHEN IT SHOULD GO INTO EFFECT, WHERE IT IS NEEDED,(LOCAL, STATE, OR NATIONAL) IN THE USA OR DR. THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT IS WHY IT IS NEEDED. YOU MUST TELL THE SENATE (THE CLASS) WHO IS IN FAVOR AND WHY, AND THEN TELL US GROUPS THAT WOULD BE OPPOSED AND WHY THE DON'T LIKE THE IDEA YOU WILL BE GRADED ON YOUR PARTICIPATION, KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT, UNDERSTANDING OF THE RULES OF ORDER, AND YOUR ABILITY TO CONVINCE US IN FAVOR OR AGAINST ANY BILL PRESENTED TO THE CLASS. EACH GROUP WILL HAVE JUST A FEW MINUTES AND ORDER MUST BE MAINTAINED.

REMEMBER THE ICE CREAM EXAMPLE. WHO WOULD NOT WANT CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM EVERYDAY? PROBABLY DENTISTS, NUTRITIONISTS, DONUT MAKERS (WHO ARE COMPETITORS IN THE MARKET FOR JUNK FOOD. WHO WOULD BE IN FAVOR? VANILLA GROWERS, COCOA GROWERS, DAIRY FARMERS (COWS WITH MILK) AND WHO ELSE?

PRESENT THE BILL IN A FORMAL WAY, THE SENTATE WILL DISCUSS, THEN THERE WILL BE A VOTE. TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY AS OTHER PEOPLE WILL ENTER THE CLASS TO WATCH HOW WE PERFORM.

ASK QUESTIONS TOMORROW IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO.

GROUP 1 ON THEIR BLOCK ON WEDNESDAY
GROUP 2 ON THEIR BLOCK ON FRIDAY
GROUP 3 ON THEIR SEPARATED BLOCK ON TUESDAY
